A left click on the field to the right of the tool symbol icon opens a second Popup menu.
This menu offers the choice of some basic settings for the current tool. A single left mouse click selects the corresponding entry for direct use. A double left click calls the Define tool parameters dialog, where you can change the tool's parameters. A right click exits the menu without change.
Putting tool and tool parameter selections onto macros makes this process even simpler, since the Popups can be made to appear at the current mouse position (in Calamus "Options", "Miscellaneous", "Dialogs to mouse position").
