Does Calamus run under Linux or Mac OS?

Unfortunately there are no plans on the part of MGI to port Calamus for Linux or Mac OS. Calamus was developed for the TOS system for Atari computers, and since 1993 also ported and developed further for a native Windows version. In the meantime MGI has unfortunately stopped the Windows variant. If TOS-emulators for Linux existed, Calamus could certainly run there – possibly after minor adaptations.

On Apple computers with Mac OS things are different: Here one can get since 1994 a very stable and fast TOS emulator named (!MM), with which many Calamus users have run their Calamus SL on the Mac since then. Once SL99 is available and a new vector output for Calamus SL has been implemented, invers Software Vertrieb is planning to bring out an SL-successor named Calamus SL MacPack, which corresponds at its heart to the then current Calamus SL and an integrated TOS emulator for Mac OS. Naturally various further adaptations for the Mac OS will be required, such as for instance a direct representation of drive description usual on that platform (Macintosh HD instead of C: etc.).
