HomeFontsFontsWhich Calamus fonts have the Euro character?
  Calamus FAQ > Fonts Index

What type of fonts can Calamus load?

Calamus from SL99 onwards can load the three essential font types CFN, TTF and PS Type 1. This means that practically all available font types can be used in Calamus.

CFN is an abbreviation of Calamus Font Norm = Calamus font standard.
TTF is an abbreviation of TrueType Font.

Calamus can load TTF fonts in PC format, PS Type 1 fonts both in the PC format (with file extension PFB) as well as in the Mac format. Multiple Master Fonts from Mac can not be loaded as yet!

During loading, Calamus converts PS Type 1 and TTF fonts into the CFN format, so the loading of these font types takes a little longer. It is recommended that fonts that have been loaded should be embedded in the document when this is saved. The next time the document is loaded the fonts will be in memory immediately and there is no need for a further conversion. Also you do not have to search for fonts on your hard disk beforehand.

Hint: Use the optional module FonTools and save all loadable font formats from Calamus in CFN format. You can e.g. save all your TTF at once in CFN format and save much time in future when loading fonts.
