This function plays a large role with colour blends. Imagine a path text that was later filled with a colour blend. You now have a colour blend object, whose text you can no longer edit.
Despite its being a new type of object, the path text is still present as such. If you would like to work on the path text, then you can remove the blend process from the path text object with this function, to allow the path text to be edited.
If you apply this function to a colour blend copy or group, then these are dissolved and return to the individual objects from which they were constructed.
