Potentiometers

The potentiometers (poti's) in the Paint module replace the otherwise more usual slider controls. They have some advantages which you will quickly come to appreciate. Adjustments are visually much easier to grasp than is the case with sliders, as well as allowing much faster changing of values. Even more ways for changing the settings are available simlutaneously.

A single click in the control field
A simple left-click in the control field takes hold of the pointer and lets you move it with the mouse. Another left-click fixes the pointer's position, and the new setting is adopted. A press of the right mouse button aborts the action, and the previous value is restored.
Click and hold in the control field
The control's pointer can be seized and moved with the left mouse button held down, and is set when the button is released. Pressing the right mouse button in addition will abort the action.
In both cases, finer adjustments can be made if the mouse is moved away from the centre of rotation. The closer to the centre it moves the faster – but also more inaccurately –the value will change.
Adjust with the arrow signs
Left clicking on the arrow signs adjusts the value up or down by one position.
The Joystick
A click in the field between the plus and minus signs allows the adjustment to be changed with the pressed mouse button. The distance the mouse is moved from the centre determines the rate of change of modification.
Naturally it's also possible to click in the numeric field and enter the required values directly from the keyboard.
