The screen also builds its display from pixels, namely screen pixels.
During the display of a document (and thus the pictures therein), the document data is converted into a pixel image, which the computer hardware makes visible on the monitor. Depending on the set enlargement factor and original image resolution, this conversion ensures that picture pixels from the document are displayed magnified or reduced in size on the screen. Additionally, dithering or screening can be applied, or conversion from CMYK to RGB.
The screen pixels are always merely the vehicle to make the picture visible in the desired size.
