I have used Calamus 1.09(N) on an Atari and Calamus95 (Limited
Welcome Edition) for Windows. Is there a cheaper offer for
longtime
and pioneer
users or students that the existing
offer around 500 DM?
No. The upgrade price is in our opinion totally fair and very
good value. Calamus 1.0x was produced over 13 years ago, so you have
to understand that in the year 2000 we cannot offer any discounts for
it any more. In any case no kind of upgrade for this stone-age version
is possible. Calamus95 was remaindered
by the previous
distributor in very large quantities, often at customer prices below
20 DM. You yourself purchased a Limited Welcome Edition
that
was traded far below its proper value. For this too no further
discount is possible.
The contents of the Calamus SL2000 distribution has been enormously extended. An immense number of modules, drivers and fonts have been added to the package that previously had to be purchased additionally, which on their own represent a current value of over 1,000 DM – quite apart from the many new functions that Calamus itself contains. If you also take into consideration what we have added to the power and functionality of SL96, SL98 and SL99 since taking over Calamus marketing in 1997, while at the same time more or less constanty REDUCING the module and upgrade prices, you will see that the upgrade cost to SL2000 is really fair. The greatest jump to SL2000 is that from Calamus 1.0x (15 years old!) and PC-Calamus95 (7 years old!), hence there are no further discounts for these.
Yes. Since the start of 2001 Calamus also exists as a
so-called. lite edition
. This is a shareware version of the
current Calamus SL2000, which comes with restricted range of modules
and drivers. This version can be used for 30 days free of charge,
after which a 99 DM (resp. 50 Euro) shareware fee becomes due.
We see this lite edition as ideal for all who
