Paths have a direction of travel. The start point is shown as a
solid square, while all other points are empty white squares. This
direction of travel has a crucial influence on the filling function
when two paths overlap. Please read again about the direction of a
path and its effect on the filling function in the introduction to the
Vector Graphic
module.
In order to change this direction of travel, and thus cut
holes
into other objects, you just click on this icon. The
sequence of the points in the path is then simply reversed. The old
last point of the path appears then as a solid square, and is
therefore the new start of the path.
Tip: You can use this function also if you want to insert additional points before the start of a path. Simply reverse the direction of travel, select the last point of the path, and add new points. After this, you can reverse the path direction again, and the path is effectively extended at the front.
