The icons which you see in this first menu group show whether you are working on a Path Object, Group Object, Colour Blend Object, Text Object, or a Transformation Object.
If you click on an object within the vector graphic frame, then the icon in this group that represents that object inverts its colour.
Also the icons are important for selecting the special submenus. By clicking the toolbox icon in the menu group, you can select the special submenu functions available for the currently inverted icon.
You can also select the icons by a mouse click in order to activate the appropriate menu group.
